In order to understand what is SYMUN, first of all we have to talk about the main organizing institution: ANUDI. It is a student association of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, that has worked, since its creation seven years ago, to spread the values of the United Nations and International Law.
Until now, the most representative proyect of ANUDI is the University Carlos III Model United Nations, the UC3MUN, the university-level MUN that we organize every March (to learn what is an MUN click here). UC3MUN has been increasing its number of participants and its international recognition to become the most important conference of this kind in Spain by number of international participants. However, we believe that this is the moment to open the experience to younger generations through the Spain Youth Model United Nations (SYMUN).
For this reason, SYMUN is destined to be a space of dialogue and debate, with the direct support of the High Commissioner for Brand Spain, where students from all over the world will meet to solve the most contemporary problems in the international arena. In the same way, the MUN is conceived as a bridge-builder between secondary education and university-level studies, where young people have the chance to enjoy a few days in the campus, meet students from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and exchange their concerns with them.
SYMUN is opened to any high-school student (14-18 years old) that wish to live the experience of becoming a diplomat for a few days. Our committees are sorted according to the experience and the language of the participants, so that none is left out.
But SYMUN is much more than debate. We will be honored with the presence of students and recognized professionals that will give a series of introductory conferences towards the orientation of the participants in the topics that will be discussed in their committees. Finally, the attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from the diplomatic, corporate and institutional sphere.
